Double Nominated at the Canadian Screen Awards 2023!!

I’m overjoyed and delighted to receive nominations at the upcoming Canadian Screen Awards for Best Director in a TV Movie for “Under the Christmas Tree" and Best Writer in Children’s/Youth for my “Detention Adventure” episode “Pranks, Lies, and Videotapes”. This is my first time being nominated at the CSAs, and to receive one as both a director and a writer is so special. I am grateful to the Academy and humbled to be in such great company with my fellow nominees.

Under the Christmas Tree is also nominated as Best TV Movie, which is a major kudos to the amazing cast and crew who worked so hard and so thoughtfully to bring this baby to life. It was a real team effort and a celebration of queer joy and I’m thrilled by this recognition.

Detention Adventure is nominated for FIFTEEN awards! HUGE! This team, lead by Joe and Carm, has been a dream to work with for the past few years. As this wraps up the adventure for this series, it feels a fitting way to say goodbye! Can’t wait to celebrate.

Detention Adventure (pictured right) earned the most nominations for a children’s series, along with tying with Sort Of for the second-most noms for a TV series overall.

The series, produced by LoCo Motion Pictures and Broken Compass Films, is up for Best Children’s or Youth Fiction Program or Series. It earned five nominations alone in the Best Performance, Children’s or Youth category, and three for Best Writing, Children’s or Youth. The other nominations were in photography, picture editing, visual effects, original music, and two for original song
